Two Stage Sisters

Runaway Chunhua is taken in by an opera teacher and becomes best friends with her daughter Yuehong. With one as a dan and the other as xiaosheng, the two become the stars of the troupe. After the death of Yuehong's mother, the two stage sisters join a new troupe in Shanghai and end up going their separate ways. Chunhua meets a revolutionary reporter and joins a play by writer Lu Xun. Meanwhile, Yuehong pursues a life of vanity, becoming the mistress of her troupe's owner.
